This is a different aspect on the day’s events but a story I think should be told.
Can you imagine watching it all unfold live on T.V. knowing that your child is there?
When not hearing from them, you decide to travel to the ground with the thought that your child is dead.
Upon arriving at the ground you are told by a Policeman that your child is alive because all the dead have been accounted for.
After thinking the worst for hours upon end the elation must have been overwhelming.
“Thank God my child is alive” is all you can think.
After searching around for a while you return to the stadium to find a Polaroid picture of your dead child upon a board in a makeshift morgue.
Due to the incompetence of the South Yorkshire Police Force. This was the experience of numerous parents on the night of the disaster.
This is…………………THE TRUTH
These parents where then asked to identify their children.
These parents where not allowed to hug, kiss or spend more than a few seconds with their dead child.
These parents where told “they do not belong to you anymore”
(Please take a second and put yourself in that situation with your own child).
Due to the incompetence of the South Yorkshire Police Force. This was the experience of numerous parents on the night of the disaster.
This is……………THE TRUTH
Within seconds of leaving your dead child. You are marched off to a room to be interrogated by CID.
“How many drinks do you think they had before the game?”
“Where they drinking last night?”
The cover up had already started.
This is…………THE TRUTH
For my own part, I feel I have dealt with that tragic day. I was fortunate to escape. I lost nobody close to me. I only suffered mental scars.
May the justice campaign gain strength?
