Liverpool Echo JAILED Michael Shields is to serve the rest of his prison sentence in Britain.
Bulgarian judges today agreed to reduce the teenagerundefineds 15-year prison sentence by five years and said he would serve the rest of it in Britain.
It mean the 19-year-old will be on British soil within a month to serve out the remaining 10 years.
He will be sent initially to a London jail and then transferred - possibly to the North West.
The decision on Michael's appeal against his conviction for attempted murder finally came back this morning.
Judges dashed his supporters' hopes of a retrial but reducing the sentence - and ordering him to pay increased fines and compensation of £70,000.
The Shields family are now hoping to force a retrial by bringing Michael's case to the Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
Michael was convicted attacking waiter Martin Georgiev in the Black Sea resort of Golden Sands last July.
He had been holidaying with friends at the resort after watching his beloved Liverpool FC triumph in the European Cup in Istanbul.
The teenager has always insisted he was innocent. Another man, Graham Sankey, later confessed but his solicitor subsequently claimed he had been involved in a separate assault in the resort on the same night.

but you have no proof of this unless your him or witnessed the said crime, and with no physical or collaborated evidence either DNA or forensic no one can say he did or didn't commit the crime.
